Practitioners Five clinicians
Small enough that you will know who is treating you.
Nobody here is a visiting name on a website. Registration numbers are printed below because they are checkable, and you should check them — here and at every other clinic you are considering.
Dr Inés Clavel
Consultant Dermatologist · Founder
Inés trained at Bart's and spent six years running the pigment clinic at a London teaching hospital before opening Clavel in 2014. Her particular objection — the one the whole clinic is built around — is that melasma in deeper skin tones is routinely treated with energy devices calibrated on fair skin, and then blamed on the patient when it rebounds. She sees every first consultation herself in the week a new patient joins, whoever ends up treating them.
“If I cannot tell you which layer the pigment is in, I have not finished examining you.”
- Focus
- Pigmentary disorders, laser on skin of colour, melasma
- In clinic
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
Dr Tomás Wren
Consultant Dermatologist
Tomás reads every mole-mapping set that leaves this building and performs the excisions himself. He came from a fast-paced NHS skin cancer service and brought its habits with him: findings written plainly, urgent results phoned rather than posted, and histology on everything removed without exception. He also runs the Thursday resurfacing list, on the grounds that the person most interested in how scars form should be the one treating them.
“A mole described as bigger is an opinion. A mole photographed twice is a measurement.”
- Focus
- Skin cancer, mole mapping, surgical excision, scarring
- In clinic
- Tuesday, Thursday
Dr Nadia Behzadi
Dermatologist
Nadia holds the acne and scalp lists and does the unglamorous work that makes them succeed: bloods, dose adjustment, three-weekly reviews, and the long conversation about what a course of isotretinoin actually involves. She is the reason nobody here is left on antibiotics for a year. Patients who arrive having bought four actives online usually leave using one, and get better.
“Most people are not under-treating their acne. They are treating it with four things at once.”
- Focus
- Adult and adolescent acne, isotretinoin monitoring, hair and scalp
- In clinic
- Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
Marguerite Ferran
Clinical Nurse Specialist · Laser lead
Margo runs Room 4 and owns its rules, including the ones clinicians find inconvenient. She widened the patch-test threshold to Fitzpatrick IV in August after the platform changed, which costs the clinic appointment slots every week and has prevented, by her own count, at least four pigmentary complications. Twenty-two years in laser, and still the person most likely to say not today.
“A patch test is five minutes. The thing it prevents is five months.”
- Focus
- Vascular laser, rosacea, patch testing, Room 4 safety
- In clinic
- Thursday (laser list), Friday
Joseph Adeyemi
Advanced Clinical Aesthetician
Joseph sees people the day after resurfacing and the month before a wedding, which makes him the person who best understands what our treatments actually feel like to live through. He has a standing instruction to refer anything that wants a dermatologist's eye — and no commission of any kind on what he refers, because a facialist paid to find problems will find them.
“Half the faces that come to me do not need another active. They need a fortnight off.”
- Focus
- Barrier repair, post-procedure recovery, lymphatic work
- In clinic
- Tuesday to Saturday
How to check any of this
Doctors are searchable on the GMC register by name or number; nurses on the NMC register. The clinic itself is registered with the Care Quality Commission and its inspection report is public. If a clinic anywhere makes this difficult to establish, that is the finding.
We do not use the title “doctor” for anyone who is not medically qualified, and Joseph is described as an aesthetician everywhere on this site for the same reason.
Begin
Ask for whoever you like. You will get them.
Every first consultation is reviewed by Dr Clavel regardless of who you book, and the protocol says who is treating you before you agree to anything.
